Jason Priestly as Brandon Walsh
At the beginning of the series, Brandon has moved from Minnesota to Beverly Hills with his parents and twin sister. He’s kind of a self-righteous prick. He works at the Peach Pit until college, where he gets involved with student government.
Shannen Doherty as Brenda Walsh
Brenda is Brandon’s twin. She quickly becomes friends with Kelly and soon starts dating Dylan. She wants to be an actress and eventually moves to London.
Jennie Garth as Kelly Taylor
Kelly is all the West Beverly superlatives: most beautiful, best dressed, etc. She also has an addict mother and an absent father. She’s just broken up with Steve when the series begins and later dates both Brandon and Dylan.
Luke Perry as Dylan McKay
Dylan is the brooding bad boy with a heart of gold. Neither of his parents are around much. He dates Brenda and Kelly. He has daddy issues and struggles with addiction.
Tori Spelling as Donna Martin
Donna is a sweet kid with an overbearing mother. She’s a bit goofy, but is probably the most decent character on the show apart from Nat. She’s a virgin, which eventually causes her and David to break up.
Ian Ziering as Steve Sanders
Steve is kind of an ass at first. He’s adopted and his parents are divorced and he has both mommy and daddy issues. He’s having a hard time getting over Kelly when the series begins. He often gets himself in trouble due to some scheme.
Brian Austin Green as David Silver
David is a freshman when the series starts. He’s kinda skeevy at first and has a crush on Kelly. He’s best friends with Scott, but really wants to hang out with Steve. He’s into music and soon becomes the campus DJ. He dates Donna for a long time.
Gabrielle Carteris as Andrea Zuckerman
It’s pronounced AHNdrea. She’s a type A overachiever and editor of the school paper. She has a huge crush on Brandon. She lives in the Valley, but is able to attend West Beverly by using her grandmother’s address.
James Eckhouse as Jim Walsh
It’s Jim’s job transfer that moves the family to Beverly Hills. He’s a pretty typical dad, a bit pushy when it comes to Brandon’s achievements.
Carol Potter as Cindy Walsh
Cindy is midwestern and wholesome and she initially hates everything about Beverly Hills. She enjoys gardening and making healthy meals.
Joe E Tata as Nat Bussichio
Nat owns the Peach Pit. He’s a nice guy who’s like a second (or sometimes only) father to the gang.

Tiffani-Amber Thiessen as Valerie Malone
Valerie arrives when Brenda leaves. She’s an old friend of the Walsh family from Minnesota. She pretends to be a “good girl,” but she is not. She dates all the guys at some point except for Brandon.
